Scavenger Hunt for Kids

When my seven-year-old daughter wanted to have a birthday party, I was sure that it was going to be an expensive endeavor. After all many of the other children in her class had anything from skating parties to bowling parties and those can get very expensive. Spending a lot of money on a birthday party was on in my budget. I was looking for inexpensive yet unique birthday party ideas.

By using Riddle Me saved the day. This great program was one of the best things I had bought for her birthday party. The many scavenger hunt ideas were amazing. This was a great way to keep all the kids at the party entertained.

My daughter wanted a pirate-themed party and a treasure hunt was a great game that all the kids could play. I purchased many small inexpensive prizes to hide all over the backyard and made sure that there was enough prizes for each child. I first printed up treasure hunt clues and gave each child a copy. The kids were all then off and running around the backyard on their quest to find the pirate treasure.

I made sure that many of the scavenger hunt clues were age-appropriate for all the kids that were invited to the party. There were children ranging in ages from five to ten years of age. I made sure that some of the clues were a bit easier for the younger ones so they could participate in all the scavenger hunt riddles too. This program had some of the best clues and party ideas for children of all ages and even for adults.

The treasure hunt was a big success and the children had so much fun looking for all the clues in the backyard. This was great since I did not have to spend a lot of money to entertain the kids and I could afford to give each child a prize. All the children loved it and all of them got a chance to play. I knew it was a big hit by all the laughter and excitement of all of the kids. Even many of the parents got in on the treasure hunt activity too.

Since the birthday party was such a big hit I have since decided to use Riddle Me again this Easter. I know all the kids in my family will have a blast doing an Easter egg scavenger hunt. I cannot wait to plan the next party!

Kid’s Birthday Party Themes –- Girls from 2 to 4

Your kids will most likely remember their parties as some of the happiest days of their lives … when all their friends come be at their house at one time, when they could have as much soda and candy as they wanted, and when everybody was focused on them for the day! Many parents take this to mean that they must spend hundreds of dollars on their children’s parties in order not to psychologically scar them… not true! Today we are looking at some easy themes for kid’s birthdays that you can create using licensed paper plates, different games like personalized scavenger hunts and pass-the-parcels, and printable decorations.
Barnyard parties
Most kids LOOOVE animals! Especially ones that are cute, fluffy and non-threatening. This is one non-girly party theme that works especially well for littler kids. You can go the whole hog by hiring a petting zoo or having parents drive their kids to a local petting zoo to meet up, or you may be able to scavenge together some animals from the party guests’ pets.
You can also theme your pass the parcel with little animal figurines, or put different animal statues around the house and create a sort of scavenger hunt, asking all the kids to find ‘the one that mooes.'
Barbie parties
It doesn’t take long for little girls to start loving Barbie! Some of them gravitate naturally to the dolls from the time they can reach out for toys. There are so many opportunities to decorate your party room with Barbie things -- licensed paper cup and plates, wall decorations, bags … the list is huge!
But you can also have lotsof fun with other Barbie themed games. Pose your Barbies in odd places around the backyard and have a sort of Barbie treasure hunt. Put them in obvious places, and ask the kids to find the Barbie with the purple shoes, or the Barbie who is sitting on something green.
Fairy princesses
Once your little girls are past the age of four, they are likely to move on from fairy princesses. Have a soft and sweet kids party with a fairy theme while you can! Often there are the same opportunities to replace generic with licensed things as with a Barbie party, but you could also:
  • Print out some extra-large colorings for the kids to do
  • Create scavenger hunt where you must find a fairy's crown or wand, her magic boots, and so on.
